This move supports cloud computing and separate and heterogeneous systems that can be acessed online and via API’s.

The growing presence of applications and systems in the cloud raises new requirements and open doors to new possibilities related to integration. Is is becoming common practice to rely on different distributed systems with an increasing number of partners.

Integration through direct calls is an option for small systems with a low number of systems to be integrated, however, it is not suitable for more complex systems with high numbers of systems to be integrated. The use of integration via message has been seen as a solution for these integrations scenarios, and during the past decade, the use of Message Oriented Middleware system has gain popularity in order to separate the integration layer, where the different integrations are located, from the different systems and, with this option, new services have emerged to accommodate the demand.

This project describes the implementation of a generic integration system that allows users to integrate heterogeneous systems in the cloud through the use of API’s without the need of coding (no-code), or minimizing their use (low-code). The implemented solution aims to reduce the difficulties that arise with manually coded integrations and their associated costs.

Master’s thesis – Broker API

Author: Giovanni Oliveira

Investigation company: Maeil

Teaching entity: Universidade de Coimbra

Keywords: broker, brokering, message, messaging, message-oriented middleware, distributed systems, heterogeneous, heterogeneous systems

Expected date: June 2022

Thesis: Broker API

About MAEIL

MAEIL is leader in the Digital Transformation of the Logistics and Transport Sector and SME companies in Portugal and PALOP, and has logistics management solutions and ERP integration for SMEs in various markets.

With focus in excellence, in 2018 MAEIL become a company certified under the integrated Management System – Quality and Innovation, according to the international standards NP EN ISO 9001:2015 and NP 4457:2007.

Broker API – Work in progress Nowadays, more and mores applications and systems are being separed from on-premise infrastructures and transitioned and developed for the cloud.
